How did people from different backgrounds rate our five accents?

How do people's backgrounds affect their attitudes?

In our national survey using voices, we asked over 1000 members of the public to listen to and evaluate 10 mock interview answers spoken in five different accents. We also asked them about their own social and linguistic backgrounds, and their beliefs about cultural diversity.

You can use the tool below to see if people’s backgrounds affected how they rated the different accents. The number next to each bar shows the mean (average) rating for that accent by the group selected. The dots show the distribution of ratings of that accent (between 1-10, where 10 is highest).
